Philip Lader is a partner in the Washington and Charleston offices of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP where his practice includes counseling clients regarding corporate governance and strategy; international and public policy matters; large-scale land, real estate and recreation assets; and development and expansion of fast-growth technology businesses.
Phil currently serves as Chairman of WPP plc, the world’s largest advertising and media-marketing services group (which includes Ogilvy & Mather, J. Walter Thompson, Young & Rubicam, Grey Global, Hill & Knowlton and Burson-Marsteller), with 175,000 people in 112 countries, and is a senior adviser to Morgan Stanley. Phil also serves on the Board of Directors of Marathon Oil, AES, and UC Rusal Corporations, the Smithsonian Museum of American History and The Atlantic Council, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Phil formerly served as U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s; a member of President Clinton’s Cabinet; White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Assistant to the President; Deputy Director for Management, U.S. Office of Management and Budget; Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Vice Chairman and Trustee of the Rand Corporation; Trustee of the British Museum; Trustee of St. Paul’s Cathedral Foundation; and a member of the Board of Directors of Lloyds of London and Songbird Estates pc (Canary Wharf). Phil is also the founder and host of Renaissance Weekends.
